What do you plan to study? I got my doctorate from UT back in '99.

Mechanical engineering, would you care to meet up sometime this weekend?

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this. I've been super busy, and gigs and family obligations don't leave me much time this weekend, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about UT or Austin in general. I got my doctorate in music in '99, so I haven't had much to do with UT in a while. However, my wife works for one of the Associate Deans of the Cockrell School of Engineering. The associate deans are one level below the dean of the whole school. So she's pretty well versed on what's going on there. She can't help you get in, but she might be able to answer some of your questions. Because really, who wants to go to A&M? Hook 'Em Horns!
BTW, there are a couple other Austinites on Oppo. I know Chairman Kaga lives in south Austin, and Stef Schrader lives here too. I'm sure there are others.

I think I'm having lunch with phenotyp on Saturday, probably after I visit COTA. and then I'll be leaving Saturday night. I learned today that getting your application in as early as possible is very important, and so that is what I'll be working on when I get home. I liked campus, a little noisy (to be expected with buses), but the green areas are really nice. Weather here is ridiculously nice, people were wearing sweatshirts and jeans while I was sporting a t-shirt and shorts.
You and every other UT student or alumni has been senselessly bashing A&M. I know there's a football rivalry, but damn it's one of the biggest divides I've ever seen.
I'm touring A&M tomorrow, and I'll probably decide which I like better.
